Meet Samantha Mackey
Ourea Acupuncture Clinic, run by Samantha Mackey, is dedicated to delivering exceptional care and ensuring a rejuvenating experience for every client.
I qualified as a nurse in the late 90s. While I love my role as a nurse, I noticed how the frenetic pace and lack of a holistic approach can lead to fragmentation of care. Links between physical symptoms, stress, trauma, sleep, environment, and diet are easily missed. This can be particularly problematic for chronic pain, autoimmune issues, and functional disorders.
When I began my training as an acupuncturist in 2004, I began to discover how the Traditional Chinese Medicine can offer a wider lens. While Western medicine is unparalleled in acute care, diagnostics and lifesaving intervention, TCM excels at prevention, identifying patterns and the interconnective nature of body, mind, and the environment in which each person lives. The body really does keep the score, and I believe the most effective care arises when these perspectives are brought together. I went on to train as a herbalist and a big part of my practice is to teach my clients how they can use food as medicine. I also practice massage for relaxation and for injuries, often with the combination of acupuncture, cupping and moxibustion treatment. In 2025 I studied Lymphatic Drainage Massage which has become very popular with a whole range of health benefits.
